The power output of a motor is 58 horse power. If 7.6% of the power is used to overcome friction and other losses, what horse power is available under a full load?

The required load = 58 − 7.6% of 58

7.6% of 58 = 7.6/100 × 58 = 4.408

Horse power available = 58 – 4.408 = 53.592
