Independence Day Celebration in New Delhi

India celebrated her 72nd Independence Day on this August 15, 2018. It is day of great pride and glory for every Indian and, like every year, was commemorated with great zeal and enthusiasm. On this day in the year 1947 India got her freedom after almost two hundred years of slavery under the British Raj. To commemorate this auspicious occasion the main programme is celebrated at the Red Fort in New Delhi.

The Prime Minister hoisted the tri-colour national flag, gave it the honor and ceremonial salutation followed by the singing of the National Anthem. He then delivered his official speech of Independence elaborating on how far the country has come in terms of achievements, advances, success, and growth in every field.

Besides, this festival is also celebrated in every city and town, in school, college and university. Cultural programmes and celebrations included flag hoisting, march past, reciting of patriotic songs and poems. Various traditional dance forms and skits were performed to offer heartfelt tribute to the valiant sons of the mother land like Bhagat Singh, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Mahatma Gandhi and so on.

Overall, the day marked a successful celebration of independence days and due homage and honor was expressed towards the people who played their part in the independence of the country.
