'Water' drawn directly from streams/rivers and used for drinking purposes particularly in rural areas where facilities for proper treated water supply do not exist is a commodity of primary sector.

The same water treated for improving its quality by municipalities or any other government/private body and supplied to households for consumption makes it a commodity of secondary sector.

The very process of transporting to the doorstep every household is a distributional service rendered and thus makes it also a commodity of services sector.
